Open-Die Forging: Quality Control Focus

Open-die forging involves shaping heated metal between flat or contoured dies without enclosing the workpiece completely. This method is ideal for large, heavy components such as shafts, rings, blocks, and disks.


Key quality control steps include:

  1. Material CertificationEvery forging begins with certified raw materials (steel billets or ingots) that meet chemical composition standards (e.g., 42CrMo, 34CrNiMo6,18CrNiMo7-6, etc.) verified via spectrometry.

  2. Thermal Monitoring

          Precise control of forging temperatures to avoid grain growth, cracking, or internal defects.

         Temperature is tracked in real-time using infrared sensors and thermocouples.


  3. Deformation Control
